GETTING HELP

From The Air Combat Wiki

The Fighter Ace Volunteer Group (FAVG)

The Fighter Ace Volunteer Group, or FAVG for short, is a collection of dedicated, experienced Fighter Ace ® players, who have volunteered to become a Fighter Ace ® system operator (or sysop). FAVG members can be identified by the ‘@FA’ tag at the end of their pilot name.

FAVG members must undergo a rigorous training schedule before they are allowed to wear the @FA tag. Their objective is to help increase your enjoyment of the game by providing direct assistance and by ensuring that the game arenas are free of any disruptive behavior or language.

The FAVG provides a variety of invaluable services to the game and its players, including the following:

The FAVG Home Page ( http://www.favg.org/ ) – The home page of the group provides a variety of links about the group and the game. You can contact the FAVG through the links provided and can read detailed articles written to help you get the most out of the game.

External Help Room ( https://fighterace.ketsujin.com/default2.asp ) – The external help room is a web-based chat site where you can obtain live support from an FAVG member. If you cannot even get into the game, this is the first place to go for help resolving that problem.

  • Note: To access the external help room you must use a fully Java compatible web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla. Early versions of Netscape has been known to cause a white band down the middle of the page, negating any ability to communicate.

In-Game Help Room Arena – One of the game arenas has been dedicated to the FAVG to allow them to provide help to gamers. This is the first place you should look for to find a sysop if one is not already available in the arena you’re playing.

FAVG Flight Instruction (faip@favg.org) – The FAVG maintains a free Instructor Pilot program where you can get one-on-one instruction in the fine art of aerial combat. Email the FAIP address to schedule a private training class.

Events – The FAVG develop, implement, advertise, and staff a wide variety of special and historical events. Look for event schedules on either the FAVG (http://www.favg.org) or official Fighter Ace ® web site (http://fighterace.ketsujin.com).

Room Monitoring – FAVG members will often be found sitting in the lobby of game arenas watching for an opportunity to provide help to a player. In addition to providing assistance or information, they help us enforce our Code of Conduct, which ensures that the game arena is an environment where everyone can have fun. For the most recent version of the Code of Conduct, please refer to the official Fighter Ace ® web site (https://fighterace.ketsujin.com/Information/coc.htm).

Remember, the FAVG is here to serve you and your needs. If there is any help or information you need, look for an @FA and ask! If they can’t provide you with an immediate answer or help, they’ll find someone who can.

The Fighter Ace ® News Group One of the best places to get help is from the more experienced veteran Fighter Ace ® pilots, many of whom have been playing for over 8 years! And the best place to “talk” to these players is the Fighter Ace ® Newsgroup, which is operated by Ketsujin for precisely this purpose.

To read and post messages you must log in with one of your active Fighter Ace ® pilot names and account password. Click the link below for help setting up your newsreader to access the newsgroups:

If you’re new to the game, say so and you’ll receive dozens of suggestions and offers of help in reply. You may even discover that you’ve found a bunch of new friends!
