November 2007

JG54_Weiss - Under trying conditions and often outnumberered 4 to 1 flying recon, JG54_Weiss demonstrated steadfast courage, and determination as well as commitment along with coolness under battle conditions and during air-to-air combat. He called out contacts, tanks and incoming enemy attacks with precision. His attention to detail was very effective in helping to take back our center airfields along with providing critical protection of our back bomber base.

September 2007

Buzzard_Desloch - For his efforts at scouting out enemy shipping during the Ranger Up North event, evading enemy aircraft and at one time pursued by over 10 enemy fighters, Buzzard_Desloch was able to reveal the locations of enemy ships to his team.

July 2007

Gewehr_JG26 - As a newcomer to the campaign, Gewehr_JG26 was assigned defensive patrol duties in the area southeast of Lae, which was a flank that needed protecting, but turned out to not be a locus of attack. Despite the lack of action at first, he stayed with his duties and spotted the first major attack on Lae when a flight of five aircraft approached from the east, which he reported, then engaged by himself the attackers until additional help could arrive. His timely and selfless action in the heat of his first combat thwarted the attack, with all planes being shot down or driven away. As the defense of Lae became more frenzied and most of his squadmates became involved in their efforts to stop Allied thrusts from the north and east, Gewehr kept his head and continued to patrol his assigned sector, and again he was the only pilot in position to spot a flight of B-25s approaching from the southeast and was able to alert Axis Command of the impending threat, before diving into the fray and downing several bombers and troop transports during the last half hour of the battle. For his dedication to duty by staying at his assigned post and warning of impending flank attacks during the battle for Lae.
