The Fairchild Airplane Manufacturing Corporation and the Kreider-Reisner Aircraft Company were both formed in 1925. The Fairchild Aviation Corporation, of which the Fairchild Airplane Manufacturing Corporation was a part, took control of the Kreider-Reisner Aircraft Company in 1929. Mr. Sherman Fairchild repurchased his interest in the Fairchild Aviation Corporation in 1931 and the name of the company was changed to the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation in 1935. In 1936 the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation was formed to acquire the aeroplane and engine manufacturing units from the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation. In 1939 the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation became the Fairchild Aircraft Division of the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation.
